1. What is BAWS?

BAWS (Berachain Animal Welfare Society) is a nonprofit initiative focused on protecting and improving the lives of animals across Southeast Asia—beginning in Thailand and expanding across the region.

Created by Berachain, for Berachain, BAWS serves a dual mission: to help animals and to help Berachain thrive. It is funded by Berachain ecosystem projects and exists to strengthen the chain’s identity through partnerships, co-marketing, and IRL activations tied to real-world impact.

BAWS is directly linked to the Berachain community and will evolve over time into a fully on-chain initiative. This includes the launch of an NFT collection, a governance DAO, and ultimately a BAWS token designed to integrate with Berachain’s Proof of Liquidity (PoL). With the guidance of DeFi and PoL-native advisors, BAWS is built to scale from grassroots coordination to full crypto-native infrastructure—without ever losing sight of its mission.
